My First Time Organizing a Fashion Show
For my university course, I was tasked with planning a public event. I was fortunate to be a part of the East Coast Green Festival this year. The annual Green Fest celebration has been going strong for three years now. Visitors can discover hundreds of eco-friendly products ranging from specialty lifestyle, fashion, and accessories to healthy food options.

Students from Raffles University's fashion, jewelry design, and fashion marketing and management programs were given a platform to showcase their work at a runway show organized in conjunction with the university. One of my responsibilities as a student of fashion marketing and management was to assist with the preparation of runway shows.
Students majoring in fashion marketing and management were split into three groups. Team of Stylists, a Team of Producers, and a Team of Marketers. As part of the styling team, my responsibilities include the following:
Budgeting, Collecting cash, Curating makeup and hairstyle goods, Obtaining body measurements of models, Organizing transportation for models.
Excel sheets helped me systematically organize my work. When it comes to curating makeup and styling items, I've learned to discover the lowest solutions that could work with the team's budget. It requires me to shop at Watsons, Guardian, and Daiso to locate the necessities. Some things needed to be more readily available, and others were too expensive for the budget. One thing I've learned from working with cosmetics and hair care products is the need to plan. This includes determining how many artists, stylists, and models would be needed. There must be sufficient supplies for everyone. An event planner must also consider the touch-up session and have appropriate supplies.
Transportation costs for the models, stylists, and MUAs are factored into the overall budget. Using CDG, a taxi service, I could figure out how much money would need to be set aside for getting around. In the end, all of my tasks have helped me become a better manager and manage my time. This event honed my ability to work well with others and recognize and appreciate individual differences through team projects. It helped me prepare for a work environment where I would interact with various people.
In addition, I developed my capacity for creative problem-solving as I faced various trials and tribulations. Before this, I often made hasty decisions when faced with a challenging situation. Because of my increased self-assurance, I can now maintain my composure in the face of adversity. A significant change in my personality was getting over my fear of asking for help. I am honored to participate in this year's Green Festival and will do my best to make it a success.
