WWF styling project
In 2023, in February, the Women's Health Festival was established. Because I am in the fashion industry, I was invited to participate as a fashion stylist. My classmates and I were split into pairs and sent to different groups. My partner Brenda and I were tasked by our instructor Mss. Joyce to create something using materials provided by our sponsor, Rose of Sharon.
We used Canva to create a mood board and select clothing and accessories for the models. Six models were divided among the groups, and we decided on a specific stylistic theme to apply to each. We select garments from Rose of Sharon and search for complementary footwear and accessories based on the concept. It's enjoyable to assemble the various outfits, and the time constraints have helped me become more efficient in my work.
The resulting mood board was presented to WWF's design team for feedback. We compiled two separate style boards: one as a primary and one as a secondary.
A fitting took place two days before the big show. This day was the big day to evaluate our new styling boards! Being fashion stylists, my friends and I helped with the selection and use of the goods. We rearranged the accessories and made sure the garments were a good fit for the models. I got to put my skills as a stylist to work in a real-life situation, so it was a fantastic chance.
My models and I were happy with our chosen clothes and accessories, but we've seen that other groups' models needed help. Even though it wasn't aimed at us specifically, I learned valuable lessons about dealing with similar situations.
In addition to the styling, I also had the chance to meet other professionals. For instance, I learned about the careers of the models and the methods they use to uncover the occurrence. The women were warm and friendly to anybody who came in. What gets me interested in the fashion and lifestyle industry is how bright it is. It was fun to talk to them!
